Gilt

Meaning: 

A Gilt refers to government securities (bonds) issued by the Government of India. They are considered one of the safest investment options because they are backed by the central government. In simple words, a Gilt is like a government bond that is safe and gives fixed income with low risk.


Example:

If you buy a Gilt for ₹10,000, the government promises to pay you back this  amount after a certain period, plus interest.
