Face Value

Meaning:

Face value (also called par value) is the original value of a share or bond set by the company when it is issued. It is printed on the share certificate and stays the same unless the company splits or combines its shares.

Example:

If a company issues a share with a face value of ₹10, that ₹10 is the basic value  used for accounting and corporate decisions.

How to understand Face Value:

Face value helps determine how much dividend a shareholder will receive.
It is important for things like stock splits, where a company changes the number of shares it has.

Importance of Face Value:

It acts as the base value for calculating dividends and is used in bond interest calculations.
