ATM

Definition:

An ATM (Automated Teller Machine) is an electronic banking machine that  enables customers to perform transactions like withdrawing cash, depositing money, or
checking account balances without visiting a bank branch.

Example:

Ramesh uses his SBI debit card at an HDFC Bank ATM to withdraw ₹2,000,  which is securely deducted from his account.

How to use an ATM:

  1. Insert your ATM card into the machine.
  2. Enter your secure PIN to access your account.
  3. Choose the transaction type (withdrawal, deposit, balance inquiry).

Important Notes:

  • Most banks in India provide ATM cards to their account holders.
  • You can perform several transactions, but there may be fees after a limited number of free transactions.
  • ATMs can be used at any bank, not just your own.
  • Always protect your PIN and report any lost cards immediately.
